Hello, sorry if this is in an existing thread, I could not find it. I have a Schecter J-5 bass guitar and I am changing out the pots. I am going with a straight tone knob. The problem for me is, the two Jazz Pickups have three wires. Sadly, I am mostly novice. I know how to wire a two wire pickup, but not three. My knobs will be standard V-V-T.
Also, the neck pickup has the following wire colors: Yellow, Purple and Black. The bridge pickup: Red, White and Black. I imagine black is ground, and one is shielding.
Lastly, I have ordered a multimeter to check the wires, but I don’t know what to look for in it or how that works. I can YouTube it I am sure.
Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
