Schecter or Spector?

Hey guys, I'm finally ready to put down money for a second bass and have narrowed my search to a Schecter Stiletto Studio 4 or a Spector Legend 4. The Schecter has a neck-thru body, EMG-HZ pickups, a 35" scale, and a 3 band EQ. The Spector owner didn't list as many details or provide as many pictures, but it's got a bolt-on neck, a 2 band EQ, and an EMG P pickup and an EMG J pickup (can't tell if they're EMG-HZ or passives, I sent the seller a question). Both are about $500. I want a bass that cuts through in a rock mix (Flea or Justin Chancellor-like, so obviously a Stingray or Wal would be nice, but they're a little too expensive for me right now). I guess it'd be more of a middy, gritty sound, although versatility is certainly nice because I'm not really certain of the particular tone I'm looking for. Which of these 2 basses would be best for what I'm looking for? And are there any other basses in the price range that you all would suggest? I can't find an Ibanez ATK400 (are the 300s as good?) on Ebay right now, otherwise I might be interested in looking into one of those.
