I picked up a used Schecter Stargazer 5 string for 320$. I was going to pick up an Epiphone Viola Bass that I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR that the butthole who owned the store sold it to another guy for 25 more than I had paid. He could only give me an in-store credit, and since I was already there a picked the Stargazer as my favorite bass there. Anybody played one of these? I got the redburst type one, and it plays and sounds beautiful. Is there anything I should be worried about? I'm not that familiar with Schecter basses, so I'd like to know a bit.

Schecter Stargazer

No experience with the bass... But I am very curious as to what kind of shop would sell someone else the bass that you purchased for a higher price than you paid and NOT issue a refund to you.
I trust the shop pretty well, and one of the interns put it on the floor and accidentally sold it. The owner couldn't refund it for some reason, but he gave me an instore credit for how much he sold it to the other guy for. I'm pretty pissed at him, but I like this Stargazer a lot more than that Viola.
Personally, I would find a different shop to do business with from now on. That kind of deal is just plain shady.
Anyway, the Stargazers are good basses if you like the Ric-ish look. Some people don't like the EMG HZ pickups and pres that Schecter uses, but to each their own.

Yea that is kinda strange!! I would be pissed also if I paid for said bass, they sell it then tell me they can't offer me a full refund. If ya think about it, unless they are selling ya what you bought at there cost into it, they are making money off of both of you on the same bass!!! If it were my store I would offer a full refund and if you bought something there a discount for your troubles!!! I understand that it was put on the floor by mistake, the way they handled it however seems shady. To me anyways. But hey I suppose if ya got a bass you like after all though and at a good price then I am happy for ya 
Last time they would ever get my business, and yes I would spread the word... Forums like this are pretty powerful.
I think you got a great deal on the Stargazer. I've been looking into getting one as of late, and haven't ever seen any that cheap. Good find on your part, although it sucks about the way the whole matter was handled by the shop.
The shop did give me a full refund, plus an extra 25$. The shop owner is a personal friend of mine, and he offered me cash but I decided on the Schecter. Sorry, I didn't realise I worded it to imply that. I LOOOOOVE this Schecter though, very happy with it. Extremely versatile and powerful, and my first 5 string.

really liked the action, fit and finish, and the weight, never got to plug it in at the hollywood gc, some idiot was trying to see if he could play all the mega bass amps so loud that he could get that really distinctive crappy ss loud bass tone you get at public parks with no PA support in the store
I plugged it in through my old Peavey, and its perfect. The j-bass neck pup is oh so sweet with a twinge of growl when pushed hard, very dynamic. Then the MM humbucker bridge sounds like a friggin monster, and has sustain for days. I really like the 2 band boost/cut active EQ it has too.
Things like that happen sometimes in a business. Somebody drops the ball...it happens. I can envision that the owner sold it to you, forgot to tag it or put it away, goes out to lunch or takes a day off, and comes back to find that one of the employees, not knowing it's sold, sells it to someone else. It doesn't mean you have to be happy about it, but it also sounds like he did what he could to make you okay with the situation....offered you your money back plus some, or gave you a deal that you'd be happy with, sounds like he's probably not a bad dude....he's just in a bad position that he caused himself, probably because he skipped over a detail....again, it happens.
Now, onto your Schecter.
I've never played a Stargazer, but I own two Schecters and personally I love them. I have a Raiden and a Diamond P Custom. Neither will be quite like your Stargazer, both of mine are passive pup basses and they're 4 stringers. So the only useful information I can give you is my impression of Schecter, overall, and the company.
Both of mine are Korean made. But they feel like quality basses. I've riden my Raiden HARD....and it's been an absolute joy to own. Nothing ever broke that wasn't abused, it has a good tone, it's super easy to play, it looks nice, and it has been my main player up until a couple weeks ago. Assembly was very good, nothing loose, nothing out of whack, but the factory setup was not all that good. I'm very, very impressed with the Schecter "SuperRock" pickups. Once set up, this bass holds a tune.....very very well. Again, very impressive for a low-dollar bass. Feels, looks, and plays like a much more expensive unit.....and has held up. No complaints at all. The Diamond P has the same attributes, but is a little nicer in finished quality.
As a company I found Schecter to be very good. When I have broken knobs and hardware on my Raiden due to abuse, they refused to sell me the parts I needed to fix it, because they stated "We only sell complete guitars, not parts". So, instead, they GAVE them to me. Didn't even charge me for shipping, refused to accept any payment I offered. Granted, they were all low-buck items, but I felt they went the extra mile and they didn't have to.
I've played basses that cost 2-3X what my Schecters cost, and have not been as impressed. Granted, different strokes for different folks, but my personal taste, what I like, is just satisfied by the stuff Schecter offers. I think Schecter offers a very good instrument at a reasonable price and the company seems to be good to deal with. Winner...all the way around.

Yeah, me and the shop owner have cooled down a bit, and hes coming to see one of my shows tonite, with the new Schecter.
Ive had two schecters and loved them. One was stolen, the other i sold and wished i didnt. . One was a 5er and the other a 6. You will be happy. Great basses IMHO.
