Schecter Stiletto Studio 4

Well, im thinking of buying a Schecter Stiletto Studio 4 bass. It looks like a pretty good bass for the cash, and i love the fact that it's a neck-thru. Also, I have only really played a 5 string like my BTB which has a pretty big neck, so im not really sure how hard it will be to adjust. any one else go through this? I'd like to get some comments by some people who have played, or own this bass.

owned the studio 5 for 3 weeks, and returned it..

the sound from the EMG HZ pickups is thin and fabricated IMO, although you can replace the Hz pickups with active EMGs pretty easily.. also the top horn isn't very long so it makes the low positions a long reach.. bridge is pretty difficult to adjust.

Other than that, excellent build quality.. neck feels like a dream when you aren't using a strap.. fretwork and finish were perfect..

i disagree. I have the studio-5. had it for a LONG time. I love that bass. the pickups are amazing. strong, deep, and you can get tone from it for a variety of genres. is never "lost in the mix". never.

the bridge is a tad hard to adjust, but with it having sliders, i like that better because i do palm mute and i have my hand there and i'm glad they don't move.

the neck is smooth, build quality is incredible. I hope you get the bass!

this bass has EMG HZ pickups right? I looked them up and it apparently they are passive pickups but ive seen in alot of reviews they say the pickups are active. basically.. does this bass have active or passive pickups?

Agree when dude said the pick ups sound then I knew that wasn’t true .

If you are looking for a comfortable bass that is easy to play you can't really do any better at that price point. (The short horn thing is totally inaccurate.) it rest just below the 12 fret). The bridge is easy to adjust once you get the hang of it.

See, not short and just under the 12th fret for balance. If you look at the bottom strap location on the studio they designed it to be perfectly balanced.

My thing is, I don't really like active basses. I'd probably play mine a lot more if I did. If you don't like the HZ pickups they can be easily swapped. But honestly the HZ's are passive. In some ways I actually think they are a little better than some of the other EMG active offerings. But the fact that they are passive means you can substitute Nordstrands or SD's or really anything of the same size configuration.

Regards the Studio Elite, the regular studio is actually a much nicer bass and the cost is a reflection of that. IMO the build quality is significantly better that the Elite.
