If the list is $2445, the street should be $1,750 or so.

That's VERY interesting. For passive basses, there is a wide open gap between Fender's American Standards ($1,350) and the new and pricier American Vintage ($2,200). The only thing in between is active stuff, which some folks just don't want to do.

These could be the basses that fill that space.

The difference is that G&L, Fender, et. al. make foreign copies of US originals. What Schecter seems to be doing is making a US copy of a Chinese-made Diamond Series design. This is back asswards, and the bass above looks like any one of a bazillion cheesy Chinese knockoffs. Christ.... does the market really need another Jazz clone?

This bass was first made in their custom shop in the 90's. It was only in the last 10 years or so did they start to make an import version.

Have you tried one of the American productions Js?
I will say this don't knock until you tied it.

IMHO I find that the Schecter American production instruments are better built with a more comfortable neck fell then any American standard that I have tried (and that would be a lot).

I've bought and sold quite a few basses, but I could never let go of my Trad/B5. Super stable bird's eye maple/RW neck. Made my 92 Fender Jazz Bass Plus 5's neck feel like spaghetti in comparison.

The 1-piece pickguard was on the Schecter S-series guitars and basses in the mid/late 90s, if I recall correctly.
