I have a question that google cant seem to answer :D

I just got through this whole ordeal of having to go back to my doctor to get notes so I can be excused from school, because if I didn't, I would be left back. Thankfully, everything went fine, but im sick again and im probably going to have to miss a day or two, which im pretty sure is fine since im getting notes... but my question is...

Does anyone know if there is a limit on how many excused absences you can have before you lose credit?

Well I guess it really depends on the school and the area your in on how they do attendance. I know down here all they make you do is add up the "over the limit" days you missed somehow and then make that up into hours you can make up in like Lunch detention or InSchoolSuspension. Have you contacted the school to ask them? Or maybe a friend that goes to the same school?

well, I cant contact the school, because its now like 7:20 pm and their definatley closed. My throat has been hurting for a little bit, and over the weekend it just got soo much worse, and we think I might have strep, so I have to go the doctor Monday and im going to miss school, I know I can get a note, but my parents are just stressing out thinking im going to get left back..so Id figure maybe someone on TB had an answer :P I pretty much figured it varied by state or county, but it was worth a shot

Since I see no age on your profile, I'm assuming you're talking grade school/ jr. high/ high school "school", and there's laws that regulate how many days you MUST attend each year, whether your absences are excused or not. Check with the school district office to find out. If you're in college, then good luck. Talk to your academic advisor. Most school districts have a district website out here, and you can find out a lot of stuff there, too. Time to research through your school, who would know.

you know that little student handbook that every got the first day of school?
the one that everyone threw away?

it's in there.

yeah I thought so too, its not. On the topic of attendance it only says how many UN-excused absences you can have.

Also say if for some crazy stretch I find out that tomoroww was my last day i could legally be out of school, excused or not, which it cant be , because i havent been absent that much, they really cant do that because #1 it doesnt say it in the handbook, and #2 they never sent out a warning letting or anything like that, I dont know. My parents stress over the craziest things.

I mean, say if there is a death in the family and you have to be out, or if the nurse see's that you have a temperature ( I dont know if its like this in other states, but legally a student has to be sent home if he/she has a fever)
