School me in Sennheiser wireless instrument transmitters?

Hey all, I'm looking at finally investing in a wireless rig for my bass and (some) guitar. Sennheiser has caught my eye, but there doesn't seem to be much literature out there comparing their EW100, 300, and 500 series. Anyone have experience with running bass (or some effects-drenched guitar, via a Line6 Pod 500) through any of them? They sure look cool, but I'm worried I'll lose my precious, precious tone going wireless...

I have the 300. No complaints at all. Very pleased. Just make sure you take the time to set it up as with any piece of gear

Schweet, thanks for the reply. My local GC seems to be having a clearance sale on EW100s (the G-frequency) - $399 for a bodypack or wireless mic and base station. I don't know if there's going to be a sound quality difference if I spend more for the ew300 or 500 though.

i have the ew100 series for my wireless bass, and love it....you won't notice a sound difference in the series...its more the specific features on the reciever ie/cat5 etc...to be honest i had this discussed with sennheiser's sales rep at our local store there that happened to be in at the time...very convenient right

i am also using the ew300 IEM from sennheiser, and these work great...the IE6's they come with are garbage, but other than that...no complaints...i love them!...

You get what you pay for, but in this case, that price on the EW100 is a great deal and they work very well.

The extra money spent on the EW300 series gets you a more robust (not necessarily stronger) RF section, some cool monitoring features, and maybe, just maybe a little better audio quality, although I can't swear to that.

Whatever Sennheiser makes is top-notch. The Shure stuff and the Audio-Technica stuff work well, too. But for my money, the Sennheiser EW100 series works better than either other company's equipment in the same price range.

Line 6 G90 -- works great for both bass and guitar!!
You should seriously take a look at it.

My guitard uses a 'low end' Sennheiser.
I use the Line6 G50.

His Sennheiser is all plastic with a thin antenna sticking out the top.
My G50 is metal.

His Sennheiser ran low on batteries halfway through a gig once and sent the most awful, loud, screaming static through the PA you have ever heard.
My G50 has multiple warning lights on battery life and signal strength.

TYPICALLY screaming static isn't really caused by low batteries...typically its RF interference. regardless of any beltpack. and your gtard should of looked at his battery life...this has plently of a good enough battery indicator. and has a low battery lift

About those "plastic" Sennheiser belt packs...

Sennheiser gear is toured all over the world, running a close second only to Shure. It's known for its reliability and durability.

So the plastic argument isn't going to fly.

The Sennheiser also has RF strength and battery strength.

If you like the Line 6 stuff, fine (I don't). But make valid and correct points in your argument against, well, whatever it is you are pitching against.

For the record, I use Sennheiser IEM gear and Lectrosonics wireless gear for the bass. Oh, the Lectrosonics' belt pack is metal, in case you're interested.

I have the Shure GLXD16. Metal receiver, transmitter is foot pedal size. Nice built in tuner which has strobing capability. Rechargeable from micro usb. It has done 4-4 hour gigs without recharging still has at least a hour left. No problems yet with 2.4ghz spectrum.
