So my band recently moved out of my spare bedroom and into an actual rehersal/studio space...(we got too big for the room plus we plan to record soon)

i moved my gig rig back and forth a few times...man did that suck....so i went looking for something cheap i could leave at the space and not worry too much about....

figured i was going ot have to settle for an old combo (Was looking at an old Peavey Mark III and a TNT 130 Combo) as i didn't have much $$$ to spend when i came across this on craigslist...

got the whole stack for $300.00...

didn't know much about it till i hit the Carvin museum pages
fairly sure it will work for a practice rig...

tube pre
built in compressor/limiter
built in noise gate
dual power amps in one head 300 watts per channel
can be run stereo, mono, or bi-amped

RL210 cab rated at 200 watts freq response 60 8k Hz.
also has a 50 watt tweeter (that seriously needs to go away..lol)

RL115 cab rated at 500 watts response 38 5K Hz.

the stack retailed for $999.00 new

this guy (Real nice older fellow in his 60's) kept this stuff totally pristine...played only at church and even came with the covers, manuals, receipts, and all cables

guy even drove over a hundred miles with his wife to bring it to me...said he has gone stright to the board with a DI now (tired of dealing with amps and cabs)....plays a six string...

so i bought the guy and his wife dinner...figured it was the least i could do (Tex-Mex by the way)

it seems a little sterile tone wise but again for practice i think it will fit the bill...

there is literally the exact same listing on my local craigslist. Same stack, only for $400. When I saw that one I thought it was a pretty good deal, so you did 100 cheaper than a good deal.

I think, especially for a practice rig, you did great. you'll have the volume you need, thats for sure.

I prefer the B/BX models tone wise by far, but for the application you're going to use it for, it's not going to matter really.

Good on you for buying them dinner. I guess thats southern hospitality though

If you think it sounds sterile then do some tube rolling and put in some JJ's or Tung Sols in the pre and see it that gives you some warmth . It should only be a pair of tubes and they are relatively inexpensive. A pair shouldn't cost more than 25-35 dollars. Amd if you don't like what you buy sell them and try different ones. Electro harmonix also has some great tubes . The only tubes I have had any problems with were Groove Tubes. But that is just my opinion. There are other brands out there that are very good also.
