I just joined TB, and have already been frustrated by the same lack of a search function on the mobile app. Is five months not enough time to develop this feature? Seems to me a fresh-from-university 22 year old coder could do this in a day - or less.

I feel everyone's frustration. So, we're going a completely different route now with different developers, and should have both iOS and Android apps out by month's end. The apps are already built, just need to be customized and submitted to the app stores. It'll be a pseudo web-wrapper app, with mobile-optimized layout and push notifications.
