Searching for the sound

I am really trying to get a tone that sounds like Phil Lesh/ Mike Gordon. Before I spend thousands trying to find it...Does anyone have any suggestions how I can get a nice bright but warm sound like these two guys get. I play a Fender Jazz with Ampeg SVT-3 amp and Carvin 2x10. So..without getting all new equipments. Do you have any suggestions.:D
