Double Bass Season and string height

Have you ever seen a change in season change the string hieght so drastically that it's still too high after bottoming out the adjusters?

The height was very low in the spring and there was plenty (50%) play left in the adjusters.

The bridge position appears to be correct. Any alternative to having the bridge cut down or having a new bridge cut for the summer months?

Are you saying the height went up this summer and now you can't get it low enough? Is this a new bass you haven't worked with very long?

Assuming all is ok with the bass and it's just reacting to normal seasonal changes, you should be able to trim the legs or top of the bridge, whichever will be best for your bridge. I've heard of summer and winter solid bridges and spacers under the feet, but an adjustable should work well year round.

I'm about to have it done myself on a bass I just bought.

I've met a bass that bottomed out its adjusters in the summer, and maxed them out in the winter. some basses just move a lot. If you're concerned however, I would definitely talk to your friendly neighbourhood luthier.

About what I figured. Was planning on changing to wood adjusters anyway... Can have the bridge tweeked a little in the process.

Have a different top cut, then just swap the tops when you need to.
