Seeking 5 string lightweight options

Hi,

I second the Maruszczyk option - it was one of the lightest 5ers I have owned having the solidbody construction.

If solidbody is not a must, check Rob Allen, as Bob_Ross mentioned, or the SpectorCore which is my favourite fretless at the moment. Both feature a hollow body with F-holes which saves a considerable amount of wood (and thus weight). But these go soundwise more into the uprightish region.

Cheers,
Tom

Better make sure the upper bout reaches the twelfth fret or it's Neck Dive City.
There's a reason 5's and 6's bodies weight so much.
Extra neck weight.

It's worth noting that Rob Allen makes one solidbody bass model, the imaginatively named Solid 4, but that it is also a very lightweight instrument, typically 7.25lbs. Sounds more like a P Bass than an upright.
Also, F-holes are options on Rob's chambered models, not an always-included feature fwiw.
But unless OP finds a second-hand Rob Allen instrument, they're all over his budget.
