Seeking a very LIGHT weight, short-scale, 5-string.. Recs?

MUCKELROY!!!

Muckelroys are as good as any basses made, and Brady is a great guy who is a pleasure to deal with. The three basses below are all 32” scale 5-strings. The HMC5 on the right, which is my all time #1 bass, weighs just under 6.5lbs! The fretless HMC5 on the left came in a little under 7.5lbs, (due largely to having a Dymondwood fingerboard), and the Charger model in the middle weighed in a little over 7.5lbs (but that has a slightly larger body size than the HMC’s).

I have two short scale (30-inch), 4-string Muckelroy’s. Both extremely light. My recent Muck has no controls (not even a volume knob). All settings are done on the amp. Probably only saved a few ounces, but every ounce counts.
And I agree, Brady is a great guy and keeps you in the loop with tons of updates and photos of your bass as it progresses. Give him a call (check his website).
Good luck on your search.

Tim Lefebvre, Kevin Scott, and Evan Marien all have 5 string Sereks (all have posts on instagram playing them). Then again, they'd make anything sound gnarly. From messaging with Evan he's really happy with his, and from I can gather they seem to max out around 8 pounds

Where did you find a white one?? I've only seen black available. Would be awesome to find some color options. Or did you paint it yourself?

Honestly the vader might be perfect if I didn't hate the look/style of the body. I don't see anything about this chambered body option you speak of though, but if that one has a different look/style I'd love to consider it. Got a link?
It's just an option you can choose once you go into their bass builder configuration tool. It won't look any different than the standard Vader, though, unfortunately. The body will look exactly the same, there will just be lightening chambers routed into the body that are hidden by the top wood.
