I run either Markbass Little Mark III or GK MB500 into an Avatar 2x10. Both heads have their strong points, but I like variety. GK is the lightest.

There is a lot of good equipment to look at in this area.

Markbass club 121 (400 watts ) and a momark head (600 w)

As one example of a very portable rig that provides warm tone through a high end solid state amplifier and a 12 " speaker.

It is good for small combo work and I have another markbass 1 x 12 if I need a two cab option at 4 ohms.

A key thing with these types of set ups is to have a high quality line out signal because this will ensure a good front of house sound if you need to go via the pa


Personally, I stay away from the cheaper brands these days as my experience had been that more expensive, usually equates to better quality.

one thing for certain if you do go mini is that you will achieve the goal of lugging less heavier equipment....
