Sell me/Unsell me on AudioDesk

So I finally got my Macbook and am getting ready to take the plunge with my MOTU Ultralite interface into the wide world of laptop-based DAW recording. AudioDesk 2 comes with the MOTU, of course, and would seem to be a pretty good starting-point, but I'm unsure.

Does anyone here use AudioDesk? I need to know, as simply as possible, what it will and won't do. Should I consider maybe spending some money on a similar DAW? I doubt I can afford a full scale version of any of the other major DAWs, so we're looking mainly at 'Lite' versions (Logic Express, Cubase Studio 4 etc.) Or should I take the next step up and upgrade to Digital Performer?

There's so much stuff out there and most places I look for advice seem very shuttered to new users, or just assume you already know everything you need to begin with. Anyone on here with advice about AudioDesks pros and cons who can help me out will be considered a genius and invited to dance at my daughters wedding.

I went ahead and stepped up to Digital Performer when I bought my Ultralite. What are your needs? Are you looking to run all the MIDI sequencing, and plug-ins and all? It's my understanding that Audiodesk either doesn't support sequencing, or is very limited with it.
If you haven't already, you might want to check out Unicornation.com, the MOTU forums. I've learned quite a bit over there.

Audio Desk is a nice point to start with in the world of DAWs.
Since you have it , you can buy DP as a upgrade program for a lot less , check here;

DP ( and AD ) is very intuitive and "analogue like".
The mixing board , the audio routing , the VI integration of MIDI ( in DP),.....The main reason I like this program.

The integrated/automated pitch shifting in DP is worth the 395$ alone....
