i still have my first bass
a MIA Jazz
since the bass I first learned on was a borrowed
Japanese Precision
My friend said he needed his bass back and my band was starting to get gigs so I HAD to get a bass .. I played a few Jazz Basses and fell in love ... it became my dream bass
and I went to a local pawn shop there was the MIA Jazz AND
a Warwick Streamer BOTH for $650!!!!
In hindsight that Warwick was a steal but it wasnt my dream bass
the Jazz was ......PLUS it was MIA Jazz!! I never regret that choice
and I will never sell my Jazz
Keep your first bass as a beater if you can for a few more years and upgrade to a better bass for yourself
personally James it sounds like it may be harder for you to let it go
I still have my Korean Squier II Stratocaster that I scrimped and saved for when I was 16 all those years ago
and after I bought my Gretsch I still have it cos im sappy like that
