Seller question (Seller protection)

Hi everyone,

Need some help. So I just sold a listing in the Classifieds section and the shipping address that the seller wants me to send it to is different than the one on the transaction ID. I never had this before on other sales so it kind of threw me off.

Curious if anyone has had this happen and what did you do?

I'm assuming this is paypal. If so, to be eligible for seller protection you have to ship to the exact address that is shown in the transaction ID.

Here's the policy:

You must ship the item to the shipping address on the Transaction Details page in your PayPal account for the transaction. If you originally ship the item to the recipient's shipping address on the Transaction Details page but the item is later redirected to a different address, you will not be eligible for PayPal's Seller Protection program.
Whether someone agrees to send to another address depends on how much risk someone is willing to assume.

You send to the address provided. Reach out to the buyer, ask for clarification. If the answer isn't satisfactory, refund the payment and move on.

I modified my PayPal account to include a 2nd verified address (work). Really handy when you don't want the shipper dumping the package behind the garden wall at the house. That would be the responsibility of the buyer. As already warned, do not circumvent as it voids security precautions.

If you use UPS you can advise the buyer to get a "MyUPS" account and they can defer the shipment themselves from there to another location. Sometimes there is a fee if they want it held at the UPS store, change delivery date or something else. That way you can ship to the verified address and they can modify the shipment themselves and you'll be covered by PayPal and UPS.

Not saying this is the case in this situation, but I always have packages shipped to my office, which is not the address on my account. But, because it is a business address and we have made it abundantly clear to all of our drivers, it will not get left on the porch, must be delivered during office hours to an actual person and doesn't get vaguely tossed in the direction of the door and left wherever it lands. I've lost many packages that were delivered to my home. Just another possible side to the story to consider.

Looks like I'll be updating my PayPal as I basically only have gear shipped to work. I'm in the corporate office, between the notification and the teams message I get from the people in receiving I generally have my packages in under 5 minutes. No way I trust them at home. My wife may or may not be home as she has her own business and the hours are variable.

I appreciate all the responses.

So I shipped the bass but to the address listed on the PayPal transaction. I let the buyer know that I wasn't comfortable shipping to the other address and would ONLY ship to the address listed on Paypal otherwise I would refund. He ended up understanding and agreed to have me ship it to the address on PayPal.

Buyer has a good reputation/feedback on here so all should be well. Took multiple pictures upon packing and have all my receipts.

Thanks again
