(I personally think Ibanez tonal variety is not that varied, the sound goes from modern to more modern. I don't think they can sound much like a J, P, or a Sting Ray, which I consider the classic bass tones. But don't hurt me.)

Selling my basses for a good 5 string, ideas?

I enjoy getting a lot of tone out of a simple setup. That's what attracted me to my LH500 head. It has a lot of tone with a volume, bass, mid, treb. That's literally all the knows it has. Although on my traben bass, I looked up diagrams on the preamp and understanding what the knows do helps a lot and makes it fun. I just avoid over complicating things in general. I'll try this ibanez out though. Maybe they have an ESP LTD also. Some of those are nice looking and in my price range unlike the L2500 basses.
I've never experienced this "neck dive" but I know what you're talking about. I think it's my chunky body that stops this from happening. Also, the strap will help with that I'm sure. If you have a gripper strap, it wouldn't slide down to that position as easily... But it might pull against your shoulder a bit.
I'm seriously in no situation to be buying a new bass... I will HAVE to sell my two basses before purchasing a better bass. If I had the money though, I would buy that Damien elite 5. I have my traben on Craigslist though for 300$. I'll put my ibanez on there AFTER I sell the traben. I need a 5 string for practice or I'd sell them both in any order. The timing has to be good though. Due to the fact that I have a 5 string though... Im in no hurry. I'll find something good.
It does bug me though that my 5th fret on my B string is dramatic quieter than all other notes. Guess it's an E. Also the open E is quiet. Maybe the pickups just have issues picking up that frequency?

Another vote for the G&L L-2500 tribute. I've had several US G&L L-2500s and they've all been great. My current bass has a maple neck with a sweet black burst finish. Most folks, especially non-talkbass users, are in the dark about G&L. It's our secret.

I have posted ads like these the last few times and scored the basses I was targeting (actually got better basses in the trade that I wouldn't have even been able to afford had if I sold my bass for cash) Sometimes bassists want to trade in their 5er for a 4 string and just don't have the cash. Last one was I traded my active Sterling Sub Ray plus an effects pedal for a MIM Fender P Bass with upgraded pickups and bridge. I feel I got the better part of the deal being that I bought the Ray for only $139. But both of us were happy with the trade.

I bought a Yamaha TRBX-505 a few months ago. I'm very satisfied, active/passive mode (treble know is tone control in passive mode), in your budget, cut nicely in the band and it was very easy going from a 4-string to that 5-string (J Bass at the neck and P Bass at the bridge).

I love megadeth. I was playing Dawn Patrol last night. Five magics is awesome on bass too.
What do you guys think about this? Some guy offered me a used Cort Curbow 5. I don't have photos or anything, but do you guys think it would be good for heavier styles? I've read some reviews of people saying they don't like the pickup it has. A lot of them are fretless for some reason. This one is not fretless though.
Yeah, if that was my budget for a 5 string, a used off-shore lakland is the way to go.
For a 4 string, you can find a good real Fender if you keep your eyes open.
No, I wouldn't recommend it if it's the single pickup luthite body bass and not the newer one with two pickups and wood body. It's more of a finesse type bass, doesn't really have the power or sound for the kind of music you play. Sound is light, it'll get lost in the mix. It's a bass better suited for slapping imo, it does that well and the reason why I have a love/hate relationship with them. I've had 5 of them including the fretless version. Definitely does not have the sound you're looking for. Body is also very small. A used Curbow bass can also be bought at GC for under $200 used. All five of mine (that I've since traded) each cost about $150.

At least you're getting trade offers now so I would hold off until someone offers you a bass you really want, otherwise there's always the cash sale too. I suspect though that your Traben is going to generate a lot of response both for trade and cash sale especially from the rock bassists, it's not as common to find a Traben these days. I had a Traben Sun I sold last year that was bought in no time.
Yeah, people have been pretty interested so far. I've gotten around 3 replies. There again, I've posted it 3 times. I posted it twice in Sacramento area and today I posted it in the East SF bay area. I'll give it time though. I'm not in a super big hurry to get rid of it because I have that 5 string for practices and my band isn't doing shows yet so I'm fine.
You seem uninterested in the G&L. Is there a reason why, other than being turned off by the switches? This review does a pretty good job of explaining them, and also points out how the one switch setting is great for heavy riffs on the B string.
In the classified sale I pointed out here, the OP has been waiting over a month for offers. Interest on the TB classifieds is much heavier in the 900+ and up range, with lower budget Asian-built basses not getting as much attention - which is something you could profit from. From what you've written here and having played the bass myself, I would suggest PMing jtg (the seller). Offer him a bit more than what he's asking if he holds the bass until you sell yours, see what he says.

Wow that's actually a pretty sweet deal. Yeah the reason I was not super interested is not because of the complicated electronics. I can easily get past that with a little research. It is actually fun messing with that stuff once you know what it does. I would just need that understanding before I enjoyed it. This is a beautiful bass though and I'm quite interested indeed. I would feel somewhat off put by asking him to hold it for me though... he may be okay with that though.
