Sentimental value... A call for help.

One of my first threads, do let me know if i'm following protocol or not.

Was sifting through my Craigslist subscription posts, and found this one: a search for a bass with very high, seemingly genuine sentimental value. I don't know this person/people, but thought it might be nice to try and .

I am looking for THIS Fender Bass Guitar that my father in law owned and played with for years and years and years and had to sell some years back. Yes, that is a worn area on the guitar very significant part of it.

He was the creator of Boarderline Express and numerous other bands. He taught my boys how to play guitar on it and the guitar was his pride and joy!

We are in the search for it because he has since passed last week and there is nothing I would love more than to be able to find this guitar for my husband ( his son) to have and keep in the family. If this guitar is found, the emotion and genuine love this guitar will give will be priceless ! That I guarantee!

If you have seen it , bought it , sold it, please if you can let me know who had it, or has it, it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Again, please let me know if you have seen this guitar!!!! It is something that is dear to us all!!!

Pic below is of the guitar ( with my son learning on it) Please please please contact me if you have any info at all!!!!!!!!! Just need a starting place. If you bought it or sold it or have seen it, that will be a great start to what we don't have right now.

Everyone of us has had that bass that they let go at one point, and spend a long time wishing they could find and buy back... it's a long shot, but if there's anywhere one might be able to find it, TB is a good start...

I saw a Fender very similar to this with a large worn spot right where that one is...but it might have been a Jazz....I honestly can't remember. It's in the Guitar Center in PHoenix, AZ.

I might stop by and check again to be certain.

Wow, well, good luck I guess. That's a pretty common looking Fender P - late 70's I'd say judging by the black PG.

Could literally be anywhere...

Hard to tell from the photo, but the color and the neck seems to match...

that one looks pretty close, Engine207... in the listing though, she mentions a good amount of wear right after the upper horn (in the picture it's right in front of the kid's arm). Ton of finish wear that goes down to the natural under the finish.

Looks like that's the one major distinguishing finish that would ever give this family a chance at finding that particular instrument... our TB network is huge though. i'll bet it might turn up here...FunkMetalBass might already be on to it.

and Baird, i agree - but with the way the world is right now, i wouldn't be surprised at all by any unscrupulous resale tactics...
