Separate chorus and flanger pedal?

Hi all,
I recently have gone down the effects rabbit hole (attached pic of pedals)...and having lots of fun...I can see how this hole could get very deep very quickly!

The latest pedal is the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe. I love it, but after using it a few times I kind of wish I had a separate flanger so I don't need to reach down to activate it.

Do any of you guys have both the MXR BCD along with a separate flanger? Or should I return it and get separate chorus and flanger pedals? Or maybe it just isn't a big deal...realistically, I would only need to reach down to turn it on maybe twice during a gig.

Thanks!

That's a really great chorus pedal -albeit a little complicated- as I could never understand why it has (to all intents and purposes) two 'depth controls', but as a flanger it is a bit unusual.

If you really like the flange sound on it maybe a second unit set permanently to flange would be best because it really is otherwise a rather strange interpretation of a flanger sound and probably quite difficult to find in a dedicated, stand-alone pedal.

I went your route initially with the same MXR pedal. It really wasn't the flanger sound I was looking for, so I returned it and picked up the BOSS BF-3 and Boss CEB-3. I like them both and haven't felt the need yet to try others.

My two cents...even if you have a great chorus tone by flicking a switch to flanger mode doesn't mean the chorus setting will make a great flanger starting point and you may need to adjust knobs anyway. I went down the path of a separate pedal for both functions. Doesn't make me not want to drool over an EHX Modulator, however.

Thanks guys!
I really do like the chorus sound of the BCD. Thinking I might add the MXR Micro Flanger. Yayy more pedals!! :D:hyper:

The micro flanger is notorious for its volume jump. Might want to put a comp or a limiter after it, or simply choose another flanger. I'm not sure if the volume jump afflicts all units, but it was the case for the 2 units I owned.
