Series Box & Monitors with x-over?

I have several Yorkville Y112m monitors, that are 8 ohms ... I would like to run four and have a final impedance of 8 ohms .. I intend to make two 'series boxes' to accomplish this, but I have heard that running these this way with a crossover/horn in the cabs can be a mistake ... I do use a series cable with bass cabs at times without issue, but there is no HF horn or crossover involved ... here is a link to the Yorky's for specs on the x-over and horn (they are the Y112m's)... thank you!

I've done it before - as long as the monitors are identical it'll work fine .

I don't see an issue other than I rarely can get away with 4 monitors and 1 mix and 1 volume setting per box. Sunds like a recipe for feedback to me...

To 'properly' implement that I'd be thinking in terms of at least 1more channel and an eq side available for each channel. At least that way you can have two hot with one eq setting and 2 softer with another.

i think the concern with crossovers and such is about series wiring inside the cab (like if you had two 12s in the wedge or something); there should be no effect if you're just jumping boxes together.

that said, this sounds like a not so good idea; lemme guess, you've got 4 wedges and one channel of power that won't go below 4Ω? trying to rig up a series/parallel thing means that each monitor will get very little power, plus 4Mal's point about 4 boxes with the same mix usually not being so awesome for anybody.

power amps are cheap these days, anything you find will let you run two boxes per side at least, for two different monitor mixes.
