Series/parallel 62 jazz reissue

I have a Jazz Bass with the series/parallel option. I typically like the way it sounds in series. My other bass is a 62 reissue with stack knobs. I had a lot of trouble getting a sound I liked so I rewired it with a dpdt pot at the kneck and a standard at the bridge. I only had 3 holes on the control plate so I decided to drop a capacitor across the tip and ring terminals of the output jack since I don’t use the tone knob. I used a 22uf capacitor. I think the standard now is around 50. Now my 62 sounds great in parallel but super deep( almost unusable) in series. Should I have used the 50uf capacitor or does it also involve a difference in pick ups? I’m also curious to see what it would sound like if I just removed the cap. I’m the course of writing this I realized that I might need to also put a 250k resistor I’m parralell with the cap to simulate the a tone knob fully up. Is this correct? Any tips?

Perhaps without the resistor, the cap is really playing with the resonant peak of your pickups. I'd first try connecting a 220-270K resistor to the circuit, no cap.
If it's too bright, I have used various resistors (parallel off the hot signal) going series into the cap then the cap to ground to simulate a tone control. One guitar that is wired with a 250K volume pot needed a 33K resistor and .033uF cap to sound right without a tone control. I'm guessing that's is somewhat like a 250K audio tone control on about 5 or 6.
I have also noticed on my series/parallel wired basses that series wiring has a deeper sounding resonant peak on the tone control vs parallel.

I’m in a bit of a pickle cause I’ve payed the bass at practice and and one show in parallel and I love the way it sounds so much I might just forget there’s a series option. It’s just a waist after all that work. Thank you again I will try your suggestions in the event I have time and energy to experiment.
