Series Parallel Question

Hey guys,
so I have 4 small hot spot monitors that handle 80 watts RMS. I would like to connect all of them to the same channel of an amp that puts out 300 watts per side at 4 ohms. These speakers are 6 ohms each so I would like to get a 6 ohm load to get a decent amount of power without blowing up my amp. I assume that I need to have a series parallel wiring but if someone could give me an actual diagram that would be great.

If you'll ALWAYS run these speakers series-parallel, you should add a jack to the plate on the speakers to make it easy and reliable. A Y cord will be far less reliable and could easily be damaged, whereas one cable in and another going out will be much better. Whether you use 1/4" jacks or Speakon doesn't matter.

What model of speaker?

Can't you just get another amp for the second pair? It will give you more power for each, more headroom and one can be a spare in case the other blows up.

If these are the Galaxy Hot Spots, I'm pretty sure they are 16 ohms each, and 4 together in parallel will give you a 4 ohm total.

If they are a different brand, then run with what you've got...

Are you sure they are 6 ohms? That's a very odd speaker impedance.

yup, the original hot spots were 16 ohms each. 4 in parallel=4 ohms.

I had a Boss hot spot back in the day, it had an attenuator switch, had 3 positions for 16 ohms, and another position that rewired it for 4 ohms for flexibility and extra volume.

I'm thinking they're way more likely to be 16 ohms with the "1" worn off, leaving a 6. Very rare to have a genuine 6 ohm speaker.
