hi all. i got a warwick corvette fna jazzman 5 string. its got a bridge pickup switch. it switches the wiring in it to parallel, single coil, and series. in series it sounds normal. like how the bass should sound. in single coil it sorta emulates a fender jazz, but in parallel it sounds exactly the same as in series just wwaayyyyy friggin louder. anyone know if this is normal and why this is?

series vs parallel humbucking?

Yeah, series mode should be louder than parallel.
And that's perfectly normal. You are doubling the amount of coil that the signal is running through, which increases the output.

i have had all sorts of wishes from my clients... it all depends on taste... some weak pickups might be better of in series but some modern hot and full on gain pickups are better of in parallel... it all depends on so many factors that it is very hard to say which is best... none is universal thts fior sure!!!
