Series VS Parallel - Sound?

I understand the difference electronically speaking but how does the sound differ? I'm thinking in series would sound bigger, maybe? Sorry if this has been covered I did a search here and a Google search but it turned up more technical details not so much how it effects the sound. Thanks.

Series is fatter with more of a bass tone where as parallel has a more "blended" high/low even sound. This is my expeirience with my MIA Jazz basses with the S1 switch. I also play with my tone knob full treble and both volume knobs fully open. I do prefer the parallel tone in my Jazz's for most everything I do, except when I want to knock a clock off the wall. IMEO
