Serious question for the luthiers here ....

Boring as bleep (which is good...) still clean 8.75 years on (covid delayed my blood panel which includes the ultrasensitive PSA test we in the "ripped it out" camp depend on to make sure none got missed. It was on the half-year when it went annual, originally. Has to be a at least year and a day or insurance won't cover it, so it always slides a bit, but this year it slid several months.) Only gotta make it 7-12 more years to claim survivorship (it probably would have taken 15-20 years to kill me if left alone, so I'm not a survivor, yet, is my logic.)

I came home last night, almost no pain, and I'm only on extra strength tylenol, so I'm hoping that stays. The surgeons are amazing, despite how the battle scars look, I feel nothing. I'm strong enough, after only 5 days to go out to my workshop and run my hand lovingly over my wood.

Wait a minute... I'm not sure that came out the way I meant. :D

I'm still amazed at how little pain was involved in my whole heart surgery ordeal. In the hospital or at home recovering. They kept asking me if I wanted pain killers, and I refused. I don't like being fuzzy and groggy and, really, I wasn't feeling pain. Obviously, I was under full anesthetic during the actual surgery, out cold. But when I woke up a few hours later, there wasn't any real pain.

Even during the weeks of recovery at home, there was some slight aching from the chest seam and the pectoral muscle surgery. But I wouldn't call it pain, and I didn't feel I needed any medicine for it.

The dental work I had before going in for surgery had some actual pain, and required some medicine. But even that wasn't bad.

Fantastic. Heal strong!

I had my rotator cuff surgery yesterday... It went well. Luckily I didn't need a cadaver graft.
Not in much pain... but I think the nerve block is still in effect. My surgeon was quite generous with the post op dope script... (30 oxyCODONE)
Not going to my shop any time soon.
...maybe I'll take a nap.:dead:
At least I still have one good arm....

...to run a hand ...lovingly over "wood"

Well, recovery is cruising along, no complications. It's been over 10 days, and I'm sleeping well, have quite good energy, and am able to be up all day with no naps or needing to lie down.

But, if I'm honest, the worst part of this is not being able to play bass, and/or do anything in my shop. Small price to pay, but I honestly didn't realize how important those outlets are to my day to day mental status. I'm going to get my son to set some stuff up in the shop for me so I can do some right-hand-only work, but still, I cannot wait to get back to building stuff.

First world problems I suppose. :D

This coming Thursday will be 6 weeks post-surgery. I still can't do much - I'm on 5lb weight restriction for another six weeks, so that rules out the majority of luthiery and all but the mildest playing of instruments. :meh: Buuuuut... I did get my driver's license back today! :woot: The returned freedom is yuge... I actually got to pick up my own kids from school today. :D
