Serious treble...

Hey, right now I'm running a VERY simple setup, since I'm still working in getting:
1. a EMG humbucker pickup.
2. finish my pedalboard design to start getting the effects.
but I'm having some serious problems, my setup consists in a 4 string Ibanez GSR200 and a MKII Acoustic BH200, that's right, 200 watts, crazy, and I love it... BUT the treble is INSANE, so I'd like to know what to move just to get more bass from the bass, and less treble.

on the bass itself, a pinch more bass boost and a pinch of tone knob roll off. try dialing out the J pickup while you're at it.

you won't really get "more bass" without a more powerful amp, but the treble can be tamed pretty easily.

Hi,

I knew you were treble when you walked in.

Use your EQ settings. Turn the bass knob up and turn the treble knob down on your amp. Roll off the treble on your bass. Like Mr. walterw said, you might not be able to get more lows but you can certainly cut back on the highs. Feel free to experiment. Twist those knobs until you find some settings you like.

Well that was easy! Well since the GSR200 controls the pickups with indivicual volume knobs, most of the time I have both pickups running, but I may be turning the J pickup off then. ALSO the B200 doesn't have a bass and a treble knob, but various frequencies, check out:

just turn up the knobs with the lower numbers (on the left) and turn down the knobs with the higher numbers.

(don't turn up the very lowest numbered knob too much, it'll just make the amp run out of juice trying to push low end it isn't capable of creating.)

Hi,

Yes, perhaps it's time to study up on sound frequencies. The lower numbers on the EQ settings, 50Hz, 100Hz, 200Hz, or thereabouts are the "low" frequencies (bass). Numbers like 1000Hz to 4000Hz (sometimes notated as '1KHz' and '4KHz') and higher are the "high" frequencies (treble). The ones in the middle are, um, the mid-range.

Normally you would start with everything "flat", meaning not boosted (turned up) and not cut (turned down), sort of in the middle of the range. Then adjust each, one at a time, to get a feel for how each frequency varies your sound. It is common to have several of the frequency knobs boosted or cut depending on the speakers, the cabinet, the room, the rest of the band, etc.

You can probably find an owner's manual for your amp online at the manufacturer's website. That should be very informative.

HAHAHAHAHA great image! Yeah I found the manual, and started playing with the recommended setups, I got more bass without busting the speakerm I still need to figure out how will every different setup is going to affect my sound, but so far I have what I was looking for. Thanks guys.
