after palying bass for nearly 30 years (I'm 48 now), taking a nearly 20 yr hiatus from gigging, I did my first personal set-up yesterday. Been pouring over the sticky threads here, watching vid's, a pant load of reading, so decided it was time. Now, got it (Squier VM jazz) the way I want it and didn't have to take it to the tech that's been doing work for me over the years. I'm rather chuffed with myself....
So, thanks for all the great info provided by you folks and for others pondering...wasn't that hard, just pay attention, take it slow and read, research all the how-to's on TB an other site's.

I started doing them myself about 7 years ago and have been really happy at the fact that I can now make any bass I've had play exactly how I want..barring needed fretwork of course.
