Setting up a clean Pedaltrain board: tips & tricks thread

Hey Rodney! To store the rubber feet I take off my pedals, I stack them up with wax paper in between and keep them together with a rubber band. Usually they will just stick back on with nothing additional if I want to re-attach them. I basically take them off of everything that goes on my board.
 
Ok, I've wanted to replace my warwick pedalboard for awhile now. It is messy, and I just don't know how to lay it out with my bassbone (argh, why are the outputs on the opposide side?!). I hope all my junk will fit on a pedaltrain 2! I don't want to have a bigger board than my band's guitar players!
 
Similar to the wax paper idea...I had just been sticking them to the waxy sideof the backing from the velcro strips I put on the pedalboard.

BTW: Fry's Electronics also has the wire clips. It was like $5 for 50 of them. I now have a lifetime supply. ;)
 
Well I have had a pedaltrain for a month or two now. I use velcro to hold pedals in place. This is what I have learnt so far:

If like me you swap pedals around a bit, then consider buying some better velcro. The velcro that came with the unit holds the pedals to the board just fine, but after a few moves, Im finding its coming away from the pedals and needs pressing back in place from time to time. The adhesive that sticks the velcro in place is the weak link, not the grade of the hook and loops IMO. Pedals that havn't been getting moved around are still stuck in place like back on day 1.

I flip the bottoms of my pedals where possible rather than removing feet and tearing off paint down the track.
 
OK, here we go.

These pics are the sum of what I've learned so far. I've used many tricks from posters here.

Board = Pedaltrain PT2. I bought the industrial Velcro and used it throughout instead of the stuff that came from Pedaltrain. I also used zip tie anchors and cable anchors from Radio Shack. While I used the Dunlop DC Brick for power, I found a way to mount the "wall wart" underneath, so that all I have to do is run an extension cord from the Furman power strip in my rack to the pedal board. Cables are Planet Waves.

Suggestions or tips??
 
I got my PT2 yesterday, time to start setting it up. Problem with my setup will be that I have two wall warts, one for my Gator power whatever you call it and one for my Bassbone. I'm wondering if I can mount a power strip under the PT2 somehow. I guess it would ultimately depend on the orientation of the power stip outlets. Hrmm...

so i hope this is the right continuing thread :)

do you have any tips on how to measure the right length for the cables? if yours is pretty simple with most pedal continuing next to each other, that's fine.. but for me I might have some patches going back to the loop, some cross over a few rails in the PT-2 etc, just wondering how do you get custom length measured well?

for now ... i am still torn from getting custom GS-4 from Butch .. or getting a funky white Georgle L's ..

If you were cutting your own cables, it'd be pretty easy, but since you're getting them made...

Get some tubing or light rope, or something comparably thick (maybe some other cable, like a computer cable of some sort). Route it through the rails as necessary and mark the start and end points on the cable. Pull it out and measure the length from start to finish. Then, overcompensate a bit (i.e., if it's exactly 18", you want something longer to be safe, because connectors change the results a bit).
