Does the Phase 95 sound good when switched off? I.e., no effected signal bleeding through or anything like that?Phase 95 is just about right. I find it sounds great on bass, doesn't have any weird lumps, doesn't lose level, it's teeny, and sounds the most like the funk/R&B/soul/jazz/disco styles I would use it for.
Sorry, I didn't see this. I get no bleed from my Phase 95.Does the Phase 95 sound good when switched off? I.e., no effected signal bleeding through or anything like that?
Mid 2023 update, FWIW: my Waterfall bass now is connected to my guitar, and the bass board has a Boss Bass Chorus (CEB-3). The Waterfall is really a super modulated pedal, even at lower Depth settings, it's wet. On bass, I wanted more control and the CEB-3 has a vibe that I dig. Other plusses: Most choruses I've tested are darker on than off, not so with the Boss CEB-3 and CE-5, so tone is retained. The combo of effect level and low filter gets me in the right spot. CEB-3 also doesn't have the metallic sheen I didn't like about the Julia, an otherwise perfect chorus pedal.
Also, nothing beats a Boss pedal in bare feet![]()
I decided to keep the CE-5 cause it’s a cool, versatile chorus even though it’s not the one on the board. I’m starting to have a Boss love fest lately.yeah I liked the ehx bass clone cos it has the metallic sheen and the x over… but as I use overdrive all the time it feels too overbearing even with the x over on.. kinda miss the good old ceb3 that could just use the cut filter and leave on all the time! Hmmm decisions!
Yeah my ultimate is the ps3 dual detune but then that doesn’t have a crossover!I decided to keep the CE-5 cause it’s a cool, versatile chorus even though it’s not the one on the board. I’m starting to have a Boss love fest lately.
Oh, never tried one.Yeah my ultimate is the ps3 dual detune but then that doesn’t have a crossover!
These are both good suggestions. My thing with phaser is I really need to control the effect level or I find them useless.I might be stating the obvious, but in terms of choruses, Boss have quite a bit of staples to choose from. I’d say it’s worth testing the old brown CE2b for a warm yet present chorus.
Also for the phaser side of things, old boss ph1r is very underrated. Different sounding than the MXR vibe, but fat and swooshy nonetheless
