Nothing has changed. We've evolved. Cell phones save lives, plain and simple. I cannot tell you how many times I've seen a mugging thwarted by a well thrown cell phone. As an added bonus, after the dazed attacker stumbles blindly into the night empty handed, 14 year olds get to text 911 emergency services with "OMG, I jst nrly got mugged, lolz".

Personally, sexting between consenting adults is no big deal. Silly, perhaps even foolish, but so what?

It is the teens sexting that seems to be causing all the news, kids getting charged with child porn for taking pix of themselves and sending them to friends. And having to spend the rest of their lives as registered sex offenders.

What gets me is that some people think it should be OK for kids to send these pix, but illegal for adults to send the same pix to the same people.

I'm sorry. But if it's illegal for me to send the pic, it should damn'd well be illegal for a <18yo to send the same pic.

Aside from the legal bit, those kinds of pix will eventually bite you in the butt. Someday, someplace, etc. You will regret it.

Thing is, it can be a really bad thing to receive it from someone.

Say you're in a state where age of consent is 16, and you, an 18+ year old are dating a 16/17 year old girl. She sends you an SMS dirty pick. Cop catches you. She's safe, age of consent is on her side. You go to jail for possession of underage pornography.

It's ok to do her, just not to look at her.

Double standard and stupid as sin.

I think that people should just chill the fiddlesticks out and wait until they're older and with the person they are doing to reveal themselves.

This was a big issue in my school.. Well a girl sent a pic of herself naked and sent it to a older person. The older person sent it to everyone and everyone sent it to everyone and so forth. The had to take everyones phone and look to see if you had it and if you did the destroyed your phone, And if you sent it you got a fine. lucky for me i didn't get it. IM just that lucky eh!!??
