SFT vs. BB Preamp

Is it safe to assume that the BB Preamp and SFT are the same pedal?

I am almost certain its baxandall tone stacks, with gain and master volume, in both pedals, am I wrong?

No, it's not safe to assume. I'm almost certain they're completely different. Why would you assume that?

Just because the controls are labelled the same, that doesn't mean that the pedals are exactly the same.

I've had them both. They're both great. They're both different. You know what they say about assumptions...they make an ass out of 'U' and 'mptions'...

It's safe to assume the Mini Cooper and the Cadillac Escalade are the same car, right? I am almost certain its a combustion engine with four wheels.

The SFT is more amp-simulation, adding B15-like harmonics to give you that round tubey feel, where as the BB is more strictly for overdrive. The SFT gets dirty if you play harder or have the gain up, the BB almost always has a bit of dirt.
To my ears, I dug the grit of the BB MUCH more than the SFT. The SFT sounded a bit farty.

Yesss. You definitely should if you can get a hold of one. It's somewhere between the SFT and Barber LTD.

But yeah, back on topic, the BB is the clubhouse leader in overdrives I've tried thus far.

Out of all the overdrives I've tried the BB has prevailed. I have not tried the SFT.

well, it was an assumption, i guess I was wrong, and I am hoping I didnt offend serious pedal geeks, I love efx but am not very big on pedal innards, however, they both have baxandall tone stacks and vol/gain pots, so that being said, I am sure they are completely different and quite similar, if that makes much sense.

It's not at all a question of anybody being offended, or things getting heated. We're just pointing out that assuming doesn't work. Different gain stages sound different.
