So the TBPlus pickup is in an EB3-like bridge position?

Also, I just checked Sentell's website and it says the Unbucker doesn't fit under a chrome cover. How do you have your Unbucker mounted and/or covered? Is it just sitting there, naked to the elements? :woot:

Getting a bit off topic, but real briefly, if you're talking about a guitar, you could put mini-humbuckers in or mix 'n match like Neil Young (I actually ended up going opposite to Neil as I preferred a neck mini-him to a neck P-90 and a bridge P-90 to bridge mini hum, ymmv). Overall, P-90s seem to work best for hollows or semi-hollows to me (again, ymmv). Meanwhile, I actually went ahead and had the P-90 sized routes in my MelodyMaker routed out for regular humbuckers.

Yeah, my apologies to everyone here for taking the thread into the OT land, but Sentell's choice of (guitar) soapbars could give an Aspirin a migraine...

I'm beyond intrigued with the Unmudbucker, the problem being that I currently don't own a bass that requires one...maybe buy another EB/SG...yeah, that would be a preferred TB solution, I reckon...:smug:

I think i'll take my SG bass in for a setup tomorrow — its a bit high/tiring on my fretting hand. I just did my own setup on my P bass a few months ago, and then on another, but something about the SG Bass's 3 point bridge has me hesitating. Maybe watch it done first.

Plus the string end windings are on the bridge saddles on each string, so I feel a bit defeated before even starting, lol. Anyway, hopefully the tech can get it playing easier and I'll go from there. I know I should really wait a few weeks until the summer weather breaks, but the wife is otherwise occupied this weekend so this looks like my big opportunity!

I own 1 of each Hipshot and Babicz and I vote Hipshot for the SG bass.

I picked up a Hipshot for my 2013 on eBay for $78. The equivalent Babicz was about twice the price. Scheduled for delivery today. Need to stop by AZ Music Pro and pick up some new strings.

Oil Rig design, lol. I'll remember that! :roflmao:

Mine's 2014 actually, with the 120th Anniversary inlay. The next year got the new bridge, fwiw

I just found an old post in the Gibson forum what confirmed 45/65/85/105 for the string gauges, but specifically failed to confirm the rumored source (D'Addario).

I'll add a bit of detail here. Looking at Sentell's website, it's not immediately obvious whether or not the plexiglass cover is removable. I had originally thought about removing it and plopping the chrome cover over the actual pickup (I'm a sucker for chrome). When I got the pickup I discovered that the plexiglass cover is very firmly attached to the pickup, so no go on removal.

Or so I thought. While I haven't tried to actually separate the cover from the pickup, based on my experience with the friction fit of the poles, I now believe that the (pretty tight) friction fit of the poles in both the cover and the pickup are what's holding everything together.

The plexi-cover look is certainly different, definitely non-traditional, but I'm kinda digging it! I'm thinking about ordering a second one for the not-quite-bridge position, as I find the TB Plus sounds pretty disappointing in comparison.

Bridge arrived as promised. Really well packaged!

Stopped by the local music store (Arizona Music Pro) to pick up a set of strings. I wanted a 45-105 set, so hopefully, I won't have any issues with the nut. Don't wanna do no refiling. I can't draw a stickman with a ruler, and I can't plane a square edge, neither.

The owner plays Curt Mangan strings and highly recommended them. $23, tax incl., at the store. $28+ online. Good local store owner!

The bridge and strings are going on tomorrow. Wish these fumblety fingers "bon chance"!
