Needs to be a short scale version as well...i have no clue why Gibson/Epiphone are dragging along on new bass models; no 'mudbucker', no NR T Bird (a short scale would be great as well).
They need to be careful after filing Ch. 11 or they're history and not in a good way. I doubt that we'll be seeing too many new bass offerings, that was not Gibson's forte even at much better times.
How many NR short-scale Birds do you think that they could sell ? I would buy one if they priced it right but doubt that it would be a hot seller.
Short scale sales have never been hotter than they are these days! That stigma about shorts being inferior to longscales is history! I will be first in line to grab a shortscale Thunderbird, be it gibson or epiphone!
I'd get a medium scale T-bird, for sure. And if it were Epiphone, perhaps that would be even better (for price reasons), but it would need to have a rosewood fretboard
Basses have never been their big seller-they're concentrating on guitars and restructuring the company. That said, rumor has it that a new bass offering is coming "soon."
Perhaps they are gonna revamp the eb. I never got the chance to see one, let alone play one, but lots of bass players like them.
Oh the last one. These were fine instruments as long as you were able to find one where the QC crew wasn't on eternal lunch break. Very versatile basses.
I prefer the 2013/14 version from the aesthetic standpoint but could never get used to the neck profile.
Gibson still should push on for a new bass hit imo. I think they could find a niche in the higher end Warwick/Spector area of the market. With the right new body and sound and of course pay off some big names to shill it.

I've often thought about making (by modding) a fretless SG bass, or perhaps more likely, a fretless Epi EB-0 (routed for a bridge pick up).
My fretless urge is very low currently, but one guy who did it got a very cool upright-ish sound. I'm sure I'll get a fretless Jones again at some point (it comes and goes), so maybe I'll revisit the idea. Now if Gibson were to make one (perhaps through Epiphone), that would make things much simpler! Not exactly holding my breath though

My recently purchased Epi EB-0's neck is too short. I told this group but no one commented.
Yes, it would be a good candidate.

I stupidly sold an Epi EB0 years back before i had a decent bass amp...Ive got the 65 Epiphone Newport but would really dig a fretless EB0 type...the EB0 i had was on the heavy side plus it didnt sustain very well.
Get rid o' the 3 point for a Hipshot.
