SGT-DI + VT-BASS = Heaven

I found it. This makes me smile.

SGT -> VTBASS = Tone heaven. That's it. That's my signal chain. And let me explain why run another preamp into the VT Bass and why the VT Bass is necessary even with the SGT-DI.

The following EQ points now exist on my pedal board

40hz
125Hz
500Hz (personal preference, this control is variable from 200hz - 3Khz)
1Khz
3.6Khz
8Khz

sansamp speaker emulation
Two DI outs

The blend knob lets you dial in the drive sound on the sansamp, and blend it back into the signal before feeding it out to the house. Every knob is perfectly interactive and completely unique and usable. EVERY. SINGLE. KNOB. The sweep mids along with the two sansamp midrange points work perfectly together. Everything adds its own sauce but doesn't walk over the tone. And it all sounds like SVT+B15 Blended perfectly.

Caveats:
The ampeg IR loader must be disabled, or use the preamp out and not the main "out". Blending the IR loader with the sansamp doesnt sound good for some reason. The IR Loader seems to add a delay to the signal and you lose the analog only signal path which breaks the interactiveness of the pedals. Don't. If you want to use the IR Loader, send it to the house or headphones, but blending both is near impossible in a live situation. They cancel each other and it sounds like a juice box squirting lows. All my problems with this pedal are with the concept of IR Loading and blending it with analog signal. It seems better suited for an either/or situation.

I didn't even touch on how the SGT gives you a volume boost or cut on the pedal board and also dials into the sound perfectly for extra warmth on a button press, or all out ballsy drive you can select. Using a drive INTO a drive can turn into mud pretty quickly, personally I just use the SGT as that extra volume and leave the grit off. And I use everything below 9 o'clock on the drive settings for the VT Bass.

I have the VTBassDI, but not the SGI. I have just looked at the SGI on SW.

For me the best symptom reliever, (there is no known cure), for G.A.S. is to love what I have.

I've been stacking a Tech21 YYZ into an Ampeg SCR-DI for a couple years now. There's a depth of tone there that I haven't been able to get with anything else.

VT bass has been my main drive and grit pedal for years, and always been my secret sauce. Running it into the SGT sounds golden. Haven't tried it the other way around though!

The VT Bass DI seems stronger in a way. This puts the compressor at the beginning of the pedals in the block chain diagram. Its interesting the other way around let me tell you. That blend knob is a new dimension. Try it!

the other way works, its just different. Now i pulled out an EBS Multicomp and im bypassing the SGT compressor.

No experience w/ the VT but sure love the SGT-DI. Very versatile & works great w/ a TC Spark & Edison.

My peeps, Im sorry. Right after posting this I managed to get a finger injury that has made playing painful. Still getting to this, but not at the pace I wanted. Also they scheduled me NO days off this week at work.

Aguilar DB115 Mic'd with a D12 and RE20
SWR Goliath III 410 Mic'd with a D6 and D12
Aguilar DB810 810 Mic'd with a D12 and RE20

Bite and Speaker pressed on the VT Bass.
Levels set to unity gain so there isn't any difference in volume when anything is enabled/disabled.

Ok back to my opinion. That IR loader, while useful for someone, not myself. All cabinet simulation off. Even on the VT Bass, is where I need to sit. The rumble has it on demand.
