Shameless plug for gig (girl band)

The whole thing was nothing short of magical.

And there's the problem- now you're hooked!!! It's like the first time you pilot a motorcycle- you can't imagine yourself not doing it for the rest of your life. Unless I am physically unable to play my bass or sing I will always find a way to play out. It's a like a drug. Next practice you guys will show up and be like "when can we book another show?"

I watched the videos, you did have good interactive crowd. It's always nice to have a good crowd. I hate the shows where you stop playing a song and it's crickets lol. You also had a good mix, I could hear everything pretty well.

You played in the pocket and were hitting all the right notes so it's obvious you've been practicing. I would give yourself a pat on the back for that. I think everyone has the "freezing up" fear before first shows, big shows, etc but the hardest part is playing the first few notes. After that you forget about your worries and are good to go.

I hate trying to play sick Being a singer as well as the bass player I know that trying to sing when you're throat is messed up sucks. Your singer did a very good job of handling it, and the raspyness added to the accuracy of the Pat Benetar cover! The worst show I ever played was a day after having my wisdom teeth out... ugh... no fun at all. Second worst- feeling a fever come on while setting up and going home to find out I had a 102 temp. BUT... the show must go on, right?

Again, good job! Keep us posted on shows.

I'm so happy the first show went so well. Looks a good VIP crowd. That place is so much fun when it's busy. The sound was pretty good and you guys were pretty tight for a first gig. Way to go! Keep me posted and I'll try and make it out to #2!

runmikeyrun - I really appreciate all the great feedback. I've only been playing bass since last December, so I was just trying to keep a steady groove and not miss the notes. Playing sick was a bit tricky only because I was afriad I would keep coughing, but fortunately I got through it alright. That night where you were playing with a fever must have really sucked. Ugh. And you're made of stronger stuff than me, clearly - I'd have never even attempted a gig after getting wisdom teeth pulled. That's hardcore, especially if you were singing as well.


Schizoid - Yeah, the crowd really was great, mostly because so many of our friends were there, and they'll cheer for us nomatter what, LOL. I was at the VIP last Friday to see another band, and the place was absolutely dead. The band was really great, too, so it was a little disheartening to see how uninterested the audience was. Of course, we livened it up a bit for them - a few girls dancing and cheering always helps. Sometimes, I think it's just luck and outside circumstances more than anything else in terms of the crowd.
I'll drop you a note when we have another gig, and I'll keep an eye out for your future gigs as well.

And thanks again for all the support from all the people who posted on this thread. I have a theory that bass players are the nicest, coolest musicians out there.
