My 3 EQ single pickup Ray34 settings:
Bass - Boosted halfway
Mid - Flat %90 of the time(unless I'm swallowed in the mix) then just a touch added
High - Flat
I specifically only use this bass for a Funk/Rock and R&B gigs only I look at this for me as a very specific tool in this situation. (I know its more verstile than that, but I have other basses for other gigs...)

I love my String Ray 4 with the bass boosted all the way and the treble and mids flat. Occasionally, I cut the treble completely for a darker thump.

This setting make it sounds like passive like round tone and big Low B sound.
I noticed that taking off some mids until it is little quieter and boost up the volume on amp to compensate can get me a tight but big Low B sound. Boosting too much lows results muddy and boomy low end.

When I was gigging my former ceramic pickup SR5 H heavily, I almost always ran it in single coil mode with a slight treble cut, mid and bass flat. Sounded great through my old Walkabout head and LDS 2x12 cab (no tweeter) - constantly got compliments on the sound from the audience.
My current setups is a Classic SR5 through an Aggie TH500 and DB112. I tend to run the 2-band EQ with the bass at 50-75% and the treble at 25-50%. Slight mid cut on the tone hammer head . Thumpier than my old SR5, with a nicer high end to my ears.

I never boost the bass unless I am playing total fuzzed out madness.

When I had my SR5 H I ran Treble +2, Mids +3, and bass +1 (all of ten) It sounded really good flat, and I just wanted a little big more bite with the nickelwounds I ran.
