Yes, yes very funny, let's make yet another remark about 'if it were the prophet Mohammed it would have been banned'. You're right, it would have because people take serious offense to that. Okay, maybe a couple of you who are Christians don't take offense to this, but there must have been some in order to get the ad taken out. It wasn't banned, if you read the other posts you'll see it was removed by Ashdown after they got complaints. That's a good enough reason to pull the ad.

In truth I can't imagine Ashdown would have the poor taste to make an ad featuring Mohammed.

It's a weak idea, looks poorly done too. Good, clever, 'cutting edge' advertising doesn't have to and should not give in to such tired, tacky, rude things as religious mockery. This is neither good, clever or 'cutting edge'. It just looks like an idea from someone who never grew up.

I still think it smells like a publicity stunt. Make a stupid add that isn't gonna really piss anybody off, then say, "We've had to remove it due to all the complaints".

it's not about religion with any of these clod-hoppers. it's about power and control.
the world would be a better place without both the american and middle eastern talibans. their cancerous behavior cheapens real religion everywhere.

Religion creates more problems than it solves..... Whatever somebody says is going to offend somebody else.

It does annoy me when a country has to lose its roots because of political-correctness.

In Britain (A primarily Christian country) we are not allowed to sing "bah-bah-black-sheep" to our kids anymore, because that will apparently make them grow up to be racist... :scowl:

Soon they will ban Christmas...

In my opinion, if you don't like our traditions, keep it to yourself and leave us to it...

it's not that cheap offensiveness to any particular group is ok.

does this apply to:

a small but extremely vocal (as in, too much time on their hands, and following marching-orders from their leaders) sect of swamp-water evangelical "christians" (aka the american taliban) threatened a media/corporation boycott on some level.

or

that peculiarly american brand of kneejerk, meanspirited, small-minded, trailer-vangelical, ultra-right thinking that grew out of the reagan 80s into the organized cadre of today

or

these clod-hoppers.

Your post shows quite a level of hypocrisy, is political, offensive, and engages in name calling. I call foul.

I just thought it wasn't very good, personally. I've always thought pictures like that were just done to get cheap publicity, and while it doesn't offend me, I do think it shows a lack of better ideas.

FWIW - I'm neither evangelical or pentacostal. But just because I'm not doesn't mean it's morally ok for me to mock their religion or use their symbols in a manner offensive to them any more that it would be for me to do so to any other religion. I could, it's a free country, but I'm not a**hole enough to do it.
