Sheehan fans - LOOK!

Fender Japan seem to be reissuing 'The Wife'... Not for me... but I'm sure someone here will appreciate this iconic bass

HI

Awesome. We used to go see him when he was with Talas in the early 80s. We would hang around before and after the show. He let me play his bass once. I was expecting the coolest, lowest action Fender ever. What I got was the lousiest highest action bass ive ever played. Its amazing what he could get out of that instrument being the state of its setup and condition. Greatness for sure.

how could he do those shredding stuff with a high action!?

HI

My point exactly. Must have the strongest hands. I was 18 when I played it and had been playing bass for a couple years already. I was expecting it to play nice, like my bass. Not even close. My guitarist friend was amazed, also, at the lousy action. Billy joked to me by saying, "dont scratch it!" LOL

You should watch this. He talks about working on the bass.

Billy Sheehan Video Interview Part 1 - YouTube

Wow, Billy does his own fret leveling. Cool.

One note kids: He forgot to mention the part about removing relief and making the fretboard flat before you begin ;) Otherwise, great advice, especially about trying to figure out as much as you can about how to put a good, personalized set-up on your guitars.
