Shield recommend please.

Hello.

I want to change my cavity's shied to copper tape.
Because I can not remove the noise. (it is not a ground noise, And wiring is perfect.)

I am worry about tone loss since I heard the copper tape shield is reduce treble eq.
However, If I cover only cavity, Is it still have much tone loss?
(I don't want to shield pickup holes. only preamp's space cavity.)

If I change to copper tape, Do I need to remove all of this paint?

Changing from paint to copper tape will give you no change whatsoever. You are wasting time, money, and effort.

Also, shielding only changes the tone if you shield the pickup coils.

Please don't buy from Stew-Mac, there are plenty of other cheaper places to get that tape.

I learned about this product on TB, "MG Chemicals Super Shield Nickel Conductive Coating".

My current luthier tested the MG product in my bass and said it's the best that he has
ever tested. I used the aerosol version of the MG product, but there is also an available
paint version.

My luthier grounded everything properly and my bass is 100% quiet! "I'm talking mouse in the house type quiet"!

Mostly true and what I always thought but it sure changed the tone ( dulled it) when I put copper shielding in the pickup cavities with Aguilar Dual Coil Jazz pickups, removed it and all is good. Having said that Copper shielding does not effect the tone at all in the Jazz Bass with Aero Single coils. You are pretty knowledable. Maybe you can tell me why?

I've found that if the copper is grounding the pole pieces it will remove a lot of highs.

Both versions are paint

Yeah, but one is sprayed out of a canister and I believe the other is applied via non canister.

It has factory black carbon paint in all the cavities and resistance measuring from each end it is about 1000 ohms. Works fine with stock shielding but not copper. My pickup Height is same before and after. I insure poles are insulated from the sheilding
