Shippin a Bass to Russia?

Can a shippment to Russia be insured and tracked right to final destination? I have been tol (at the post office) that usps will not insure (or honor) a package to Russia and will not track one once it reaches another country and or another shipping outfit/company. i have about 8 Russians so far telling me that this package can be insured and tracked ,is this a scam?

It can be done, but the USPS won't do it. You have to use Fedex, EMS, or other specialty courier company. I ship items to Russia all the time, but I do not insure those packages because neither I nor the customer wants to pay the premium price.
