Shipping a Sadowsky

Well I finally am in too much pain to go hunt the music stores, so I think I'm going to order a stock 5 string Sadowsky.

I'm new to this ordering thing, and since I live in Thailand, a small country in south east asia, I'm concerned with the safety of shipping a bass so far. Can I insure it? What am I supposed to expect upon shipping? How long must I wait in typical cases?

I know all the shipping services here in the U.S. you can insure anything you ship and for the cost it is very wise to do so especially on a high dollar item.

Ive shipped two basses (Sadowsky and Lakland) overseas to Australia and both arrived in one piece without any damage. I would definitely go with shipping insurance though, there have been horror stories...

I would like to know how this is done, as I am really considering doing this.

So, I can get shipping insurance, right? What kind of insurance is provided? And who is it best to go through to get here?

Basically, I just want to know what to do from start to finish. Anybody who can tell me what's supposed to happen would be much appreciated, thanks.

Charles, are you in the military or associated with the military and have an APO/FPO address? If so it's easy to ship USPS to that address anywhere in the world. If not, I'm not real sure on how it is for you in Thailand, I'm on Guam and receive/send basses all the time through the US post office. Takes me about 10 days to get one from the east coast, mine usually go through LA/Hawaii/Guam. I've been getting gear for 20 years to me here through USPS with no problems. I would think yours would go through Hawaii but not sure how customs would handle it in Thailand.

Unfortunately, no, I'm not in any way connected with the embassy, so no chance of that.

If I can get good insurance on it, I will ship one in, but if not, no I won't. I've heard nasty stories here of the Thai customs, but if I can put really good insurance on it I will.

Can somebody tell me how I order a Sadowsky? What am I supposed to do and like what happens?

Keep in mind that you will have an upcharge because of taxes. In Greece it's 25%, do some research for your country.
