Shipping used basses.

I am a member of the buy it used school of bass consumers.

However, I have never bought a used bass from a private party (like on eBay). I am somewhat concerned about the bass getting damaged if not shipped in a HSC. And, its not like having a bass shipped from GC or MF where (1) these stores should know how to propwerly crate/pack a bass for shipping and (2) one has recourse if there is damage during shipping.

Am I right to be concerned about this?

I've shipped and received plenty of basses without HSC's. If it's packed with sufficient bubble wrap/foam in an appropriate box there should be no issues.
