You (hypothetically) have a choice of one of the following to use as your main amp for the next few gigs. Which do YOU take?
Consider all brand new (most current model available in stores).
1. MarkBass Little Mark III
2. Ampeg SVT III
3. Gallien-Krueger 700RBII
4. Mesa-Boogie M-Pulse Walkabout

Share your thoughts on which, and why, you left the others out.

all very good heads. the lmiii and 3 pro are my type of tones (used to own both). have not played the m-pulse walkabout. the gk, while having a very good tone, isn't my thing since i like ampeg tube amps. i doubt i'd ever buy a solid state amp that wasn't a micro again, but i think if i were to get another one, i'd just as soon get ampeg's new pf500 over an lmiii. i really like what i've heard out of it, even though it's only been on recordings.

but since you're the one buying one, get what you think suits your style the best, not what a tb consensus tells you.

I have the GK too; great head. Throw a VT pedal in front to round out the tone sometimes (not very often, as I can get a very similar tone with just the GK).

BTW, this is not a "what should I buy thread?" in disguise. It's exactly what it appears to be: a "which of these is most coveted by TBers?" thread.

BTW, I voted Mesa--- just for the hell of it.
JimmyM, why did you ditch the LM and IIIPro? Did you prefer one over the other?
i actually did prefer the lm over the 3 pro because it was lighter and to my ears sounded a little more tubey (not distorted tubey...the lm doesn't do distortion), then the vt bass came out, and then i got my vintage svt and b-15n restored, and between the vt and my tube amps, i lost interest in everything else. for a while i was using the vt into the effect return of a crate power block, and then i got a micro vr for christmas, so now that's what i use for a micro rig.

I'd go with the GK just becuase I love their sound. I like Boogie too, but GK just fits my playing style better. Regarding not having provided enough gig info, I'm guessing Nitsuj meant whaterver our regular gig is, but that's just my impression... I could be dead wrong.
