shopclass project AKA first bass build

had to improvise for the template. took my squier p, traced it, and took images from musicians friend, drew a center line, and spent hours editing my p shape with a pencil ontil it was around where i wanted. some areas are a little oversized on porpose and will be taken cae of when i sand it didn't have mdf on hand, so did it on plywood made from cedar chips. will band saw tommorrow. pics as well.

well i found out some awsome news. my parents told me that since this is an "important school grade" they will take part of their tax return, and cover half the cost of the stuff.:hyper::bassist:. i'm thinking badass II bridge, seymour duncan 1/4 pound precision pickups, seymour duncan music man ceramic (might just bump it up to nordstrand, witchevers punchier), audere preamp. my total comes of to $200 + woods and other stuff. speaking of that, what are some decent tuning keys that won't break the bank (thinging fender style, but could still go the other way. witch is easier?)

today i started on the neck. glued 3 boars of maple together. went crazy on the clamps. started with steel bar clamps with crank handles. when there was no more room to turn the cranks, i got some bar clamps with annoying wooden twist handles. covered almost every inch. must have used at least 30. official count when i remove them tommorow. lol. i will joint the edges, plane it and all, then put in strips of purple heart.

Take a large piece of paper and draw out this bass to scale in detail. Every detail should be drawn out BEFORE you start cutting. Start with a line about 42" and then mark out your scale length. Go from there. Please start taking some of the suggestions that have been givin. Thanks
