Should a fretless sound like crap when unplugged?

The 'board on my VMF was a little Tuck 'n' Roll'd.

I leveled it using a block from Stew-Mac.

Sight down the neck, nut to bridge. Check for a slight waviness that goes concurrent with the fretlines.

It was a minor expense and a little time to get the neck right, but I'm keeping the VMF. Fun to play and sounds great.
