G&L operates like this, and it's extremely cool.

My sentiments exactly. Don't like it, don't buy one. Support someone who makes small runs of a great product. All of G&L's latest color's are freakin' awesome. Margarita Mist anyone? Why buy a Buick when you can get a Cadillac for the same money?

....Or buy your parts and put it together how you want it, ever hear of a little company called Warmoth?

And yes, I do own and love to death a 3ts Am Std. J with TORT. and FLATS!

I can understand that Squiers have limited colours because of economics of scale, but I think Fenders are at a price point that the buyers should have a good choice of colours.

I am just wondering if it is the big retailers that are the pussies here and telling Fender they only want 3TS, Black and White because they are more confident of selling those.

I would love to see Agave Blue (my all-time favorite) make a comeback, as well as sage green and some of the old custom colors like burgundy mist, surf green, etc. Some of us like brightly colored stuff.

Their color palette seems far too heavily weighted toward blacks and bursts and muted brownish-reds right now. Way too dull considering bright muscle car colors are what they are known for, and what looks best on their body shapes IMO.

Getting colors like Agave and Surf into the MIM line would be so freakin' sweet.
