Should I buy a Yamaha Motion B II?

I ran across an older (mid-eighties) passive Yamaha Motion B II at a local music store. It plays nice, sounds very good (if different) from my P basses and is super light. I did a little research but can't really say if this is worth the $400 they're asking for it (with original HSC); it's the one with the simple bridge, 32 scale. Were these considered high-end instruments in the day? Do they have any cool-factor or mojo I'm unaware of?

I bought one Used with the original case for $250 recently. I think I got a really good deal. I'd like to have another, and there is one for sale at GC for $400. I just can't make myself pull the trigger.

Havent got around to changing the strings on mine yet- but i know somone who also owns the same bass, he puts standard sized string that are meant for 34 inch scale basses and had no problems with it so far
