So, I am in a bit of a pickle. I am currently running my SVT 7 Pro with my 2 SVT 210 AV's. I am concerned that I may eventually blow the little bastards if I leave the volume set too high on the head. I just came across a deal on a PF 500 that I would have to pull the trigger on pretty quickly. Do you think I should just keep running with the 7 Pro or get the PF 500? Also, if anyone has a picture of the PF 500 on top of an SVT 210 please share! Thanks.

Should I Buy an Ampeg PF 500?

That's what I have been doing with no issue so far. Just afraid of the volume knob getting bumped and bye bye cabs.
Truth is, ANY amp is capable of blowing ANY cab or cabs. So, it wouldn't matter either way, you still have to be mindful of any stress you put on your spkr cabs. Besides, the 7Pro is the better of the 2 amps, why downgrade?

No way! lol.....The PF500 could probably blow the speakers all the same. BTW, grats on that head...played one at GC, now I lie awake at night concocting ways to get an SVT7 into my hands lol

They are great heads. GC's used website has a few for good prices. They also have a Ampeg Micro VR for $150 and a PF 500 for $250 right now. Figured I would share the info since I will not being buying either of them.

I could see the PF500 actually sounding better than the 7 pro with those cabs, because you can drive the amp a bit harder at a lower volume.
I may be totally off basis with this theory, I have been living in GK land for the last few years, and this has been my experience with the 1001rb vs the 700.

There are a lot of negative reviews about the PF500, mostly from people who insist on driving it way past its capabilties, which are not inconsiderable; fact is, it work fine for most applications I have one, and I rive it hard. It's a good amp, but don't expect it to drive multiple cabinets at ear-splitting levels. Just saying.
I prefer it to not change with volume. When I have a sound I like and turn it up, I don't want it to change, just get louder.
