Should I expect A big change?

So I finally decided on my next bass and I got something in my price range its a Squier P bass special (the P/J)
My GAS is gone!

just quick question should this be a big change from my ibby gsr190? or will it be about the same?

Is your gsr190 the two pup pj configuration or the single humbucker pup version? If the former, not gonna get big change. Though pup upgrade would improve the ibby. If the latter, abigger change due to diff pups voice char but more versatile (2 instead of 1) with the squire. To me you making more of a sideways rather then forward step with the change. Thats not a bad thing. But I wouldnt be surprised if you found the change wasnt as much as you where hoping. However, if you like the squires neck better, then the change is good. Keeping in mind that pup change for either is viable upgrade as is hardware upgrade for the squire. Youd of made a more forward step with changeing from the ibby you have if youd gone with something like the Ibanez SR300 instead imo.

yea I know i wanted another P/J and I really don't like actives
but the squiers neck is thinner and I heard a lot of good stuff about this squier in particular

so yea I don't know even if it isn't big...
Its my first damn bass and Im so excited! :hyper::hyper::hyper::)

When I had my first bass, an ESP F104, it felt nice and it was a decent-playing bass. But when I bought my P-bass my playing seemed to improve overnight since everything about it just seemed to fit me perfectly.

That can only be determined by you when you get it. I'd like to think it should be playable and other than tuning, probably only minimal tweaking will be needed (like adjusting bridge saddles to set the action, for example).

But you might luck out and get one that's set up nicely and won't need a proper setup until later. Eventually, you'll want to get it done by a pro, but if the frets aren't buzzing and the action's not bad, then enjoy your new bass. Keep us posted!
